Among Daniel Alva's works that I always remember is that simple tattoo that he has on his forearm and that says ONCE : the tribute to that traditional Buenos Aires neighborhood of commerce that knew how to be Jewish, then Peruvian and then Korean and then all that at the same time and perhaps not exactly in that order, but that for many reasons Daniel wears on his skin. Like many of his projects, this tattoo is the mark of his wandering around Buenos Aires, the city that he adopted and that adopted him in turn. And it is the writing and the line: the word that in a certain way founds and seals the journey of a migrant, who, unlike so many who choose not to attract attention, does not skimp on making a coordinate fully visible on the map. For this reason or there seems to be a cartographic task that underlies the story of this collaboration and also one that involves chance. The day that Daniel Alva and Kiah Reading met having lunch in La Boca, the Australian saw the Peruvian's tattoo and a little jokingly - but not so much - he looked on the other arm and said TWICE and they both recognized each other in that one-two . Or maybe I conveniently invented the memory because I got them together. But more or less since then they have not stopped communicating, in a migrant translation movement that in a way is evident in the eight chapters of this project. In drawing and poetry disjointed and at the same time active in layers of meaning to which Reading has read others; in the interventions that emphatically and performatively put said shots in constant interaction and bond. Plan / Moverte as Alva's verses say, a direct dictum that he and Reading put into practice, and that many others have also followed in so many ways.
